EPISODE TWENTY SEVEN: DOWSING REVOLUTION
A boy with green hair is out on the prey. He takes down two men running
and a man gambling with his crystal pendant. He wants stronger opponents… so he will be able to defeat Hao.
Sharon
has decided to take on the boy with green hair. They throw Millie out to him. She falls and he helps her up. She blushes,
but soon her friends have surrounded him. Their attack is nothing to the boy and he breaks their hold and refuses them. Sharon
and the others run away mad, but Millie goes up to him, complete with her schoolgirl crush, and tells him that she knows of
strong Shamans.
Ren heads over to the library to research Patch Village, but even with the Tao resources, there is
still no trace of Patch Village. Yoh isn’t discouraged. He thinks it may be a puzzle that they need to solve.
The
boy with green hair seeks out the one that Millie spoke of. He sees Ryu from a distance and introduces himself as Lyserg Diethel.
He then asks Ryu to be his companion. Ryu is really confused and asks if he is a Shaman. He shows him his pendant with his
spirit, Morphin, a pixie-like creature who is about the size of the crystal pendant. His special skill is dowsing, a technique
which people use pendulums or metal to detect objects. Ryu smiles and thinks Lyserg is cute. He tells him to follow him and
takes him to Yoh, all the while thinking Lyserg is a girl. Horo Horo is not impressed with Lyserg and breaks it to Ryu that
Lyserg is a boy. Ryu gets embarrassed and admits his mistake… Ren is against it too.
Suddenly Lyserg attacks,
ready to show his true self. Horo Horo accuses him or trying to destroy his rivals. Lyserg tells him that he’s wrong.
He only wants strong companions. Eight years ago in London, his house burned down. A boy stands in the burning house telling
him that if they had only listened to him. Lyserg explains that the boy killed his family, but must seek revenge. He attacks
again with Homing Pendulum and Horo Horo Oversouls. Ren is tired of this and attempts to destroy the pendulum, but is defeated.
Yoh walks over to the two lying on the ground. He tells the kid to move out of his way. He needs to take Ren and Horo Horo
to a hospital. Lyserg gets mad and attacks Yoh from behind, but Yoh shatters his pendulum with little effort.
The boy
is amazed that Yoh defeated him so easily, but Yoh isn’t about to play. Yoh informs him that he doesn’t want friends
that hurt his friends. He and Ryu then help Ren and Horo Horo away. Lyserg is still throwing a fit and gets out his father’s
crystal pendulum. He demands that Yoh fight him. Yoh tells him that fighting would be pointless. Lyserg then jumps and does
Big Ben Wire Frame, creating a shield and weapon in the shape of Big Ben with all of his Furyoku. Yoh looks up and asks who
he is really fighting. He Oversouls with Amidaryuu Gokoujin and destroys Lyserg’s Oversoul. After the fight, Yoh tells
him that in his heart, he was fighting an enemy. Lyserg throws a tantrum, demanding that they become his friends. Yoh punches
him for using his friends for his own selfishness. He then invites Lyserg to join them as they take Ren and Horo Horo to the
hospital.
EPISODE TWENTY EIGHT: LYSERG REVENGER
The three guys Lyserg took out decide to team up to get back at Lyserg.
Zen-Ryo also shows up, and they’ve brought a cage…
There is a flashback to a man, presumably Lyserg’s
father, who introduces him to Morphin, the fairy that has been in the Diethel family for generations. His father explains
that in the cage, Morphin is powerless. There is only one key that can open it. If Lyserg finds that key, he will prove himself
to the family.
After the trip to the hospital, Lyserg tells the Shamans his story. His father, Liam Diethel, was a
great detective and dowsing expert. Because he admired his father so greatly, he looked everywhere for the key. And so when
he was six, he realized the key was at Big Ben. While he was away, Hao made a proposition to Liam to join him. Happily, Lyserg
found the key and ran home to show his father, only to find Hao had destroyed his home and killed his parents. Lyserg trained
hard, and after he learned Oversoul, he learned of Hao. He also knew he would be entering the Shaman Fight, so he stole an
Oracle Bell from Brom, one of the ten priests.
Lyserg is convinced that there is some relation between Yoh and Hao.
Ren is unhappy that someone else wants to join their party and walks away. Suddenly Millie runs up to Lyserg and informs him
that three men are looking for him. He asks her to take him to them. They begin to fight and the three men capture Morphin.
Lyserg lays helpless until Ren walks over to him. Lyserg can’t imagine someone coming to his aid and asks why. Ren replies
that their leader told him that he would become one of their friends. He then goes into Spirit Ball Mode, knowing that Hyoui
Gattai can’t beat an Oversoul. Horo Horo shows up as well and asks how he can leave the friend over there. He realizes
that Morphin has been his friend all along. He rescues her and defeats the 70s baddie, Little Lake and Savage Pan and Green
Garam are next.
EPISODE TWENTY NINE: MERA PERSEVERANCE
Lyserg apparently led everyone to a snow covered mountain filled with
other shamans headed to the other side of the mountain. They also run into the girl group frozen in the blizzard. Yoh goes
over to them and saves them and asks them to join his group as they all warm themselves by a fire.
Suddenly, Lyserg
flips out and runs out of the cave. Hao has come, and apparently he can control the weather. Everyone is truly impressed that
the blizzard is completely avoiding their area. Lyserg attacks but is repelled and thrown back unconscious.
Afterwards,
Lyserg is completely hopeless, even as everyone tries to cheer him up. Ryu tells him the Japanese legend about Yamato no Orochi,
an 8 headed dragon. Ryu wanted become a shaman like master Yoh so badly that he decided to be trained by Yoh’s grandfather,
Yohmei, directly. He didn’t accept him easily. Yoh’s father, Mikihisa, asked on his behalf as Ryu waited outside
for over a week. He believed that Yoh would need his help in the tournament. Yohmei finally gave in, sending Ryu to Oku Izumo,
located where the Maki river branches in the Sanin region. They are in the great valley named Oni no Shitaburui. Yoh’s
grandfather tested his endurance. He then told him about Yamata no Onchi, the snake god who ruled this land with 8 heads and
8 tails. Its length could pass through the hills and valleys 8 times, his eyes are as red as Houzuki, and his stomach is always
covered in blood.
The dragon’s true form was the river itself, and the people in the surrounding areas believed
spirits came from the river to deliver the harvest. However, when the river flooded, the people believed it was a devil destroying
lives and crops. Orochi still lives today… as they walked along, Yohmei commented that maybe here, Ryu would be able
to find a better spirit…
Ryu then followed the river to the top of the mountain to prove his worth as a shaman.
During their journey, Tokageroh and Ryu discuss the possibilities of becoming a Shaman. He must face the genies of the forest
and the flash floods of Orochi, challenging them without giving up. As Ryu stood as the water almost overcame him, he was
able to Hyoui Gattai with Tokageroh. Eventually, he reached the top of the mountain.
When the blizzard was over, the
Shamans set out on their way. However, Lilly was able to see into the distance and overheard the plan that Hao was about to
unfreeze the river and destroy everyone in its path. Hao calls forth Spirit of Fire, Fire genie and the ice melts. Yoh goes
into full Oversoul mode and they take on the river. Ryu commands Yoh to move out of the way and he prepares the attack he
learned when facing Orochi, Ame no Merakumo no Tsugumi. He attacks, Horo Horo freezes the water, and Ren breaks it to stop
the flood.
Elsewhere, Yohmei watches as a book trembles before him. He comments that Chou Senji Ryakketsu is trembling
with anticipation for Hao. He calls up Anna and sends his shikigami spirit through the phone.
EPISODE THIRTY: THE STOLEN ORACLE BELL
Yoh and co. continue on their journey, traveling alone through the deserted
roads of America. Lyserg questions his abilities again, and everyone tries to encourage him.
Millie flips out because
Sharon took her sausage. She runs off into the forest alone. Suddenly, a strange cowboy named Chrysler with a fairy spirit
captures her and is looking to steal her Shaman Bell.
Lyserg senses a shaman presence and they find Millie. They free
her and learn that someone stole her Oracle Bell. Yoh teases her and pretends to walk but then comes back to help.
In
the distance, Mikihisa stands atop the trees and calls Kyu Kyu Nyoritsurio. He then unleashes a black bird. Hao notices and
comments that he’s finally making a move.
Anna calls Manta and asks a favor. She needs him to take her to Osorezan,
located at the northern tip of mainland Japan in the Shimokita peninsula in Aomori… one of Japan’s three spiritual
mountains.
With Lyserg’s dawsing technique, the group follows. They send Amidamaru ahead and he oversees Chrysler
getting on the bus. He then does his Oversoul thumb and Billy shows up to follow the bus. The bus accelerates and they fly
off a cliff. Billy follows and Ren saves their landing. The Shamans attack and in the process, break Millie’s Bell.
Millie is devastated. Luckily, Silva descends and gives Millie a new Bell.
Meanwhile, Anna and Manta venture to the
sacred mountain, Osorezan, where several spirit mediums bowed before Anna. Anna informs him that they have gathered for a
ceremony. They heard from Kino, Yoh’s grandmother, and have been waiting for her.
EPISODE THIRTY ONE: FOREST OF FAERIES
It’s been two hours and Billy still hasn’t appeared…
two spirits oversee this and return back to the town of Goblin Soccer. A shot of Billie shows that he is trying, but he’s
been held up by a long line of cows crossing the street.
They give up and to their surprise, an old couple pick them
up on their way home. The old couple invite them to stay for a few days. Lyserg sort of offends them when he refuses their
offer to stay a couple of days. They retire to their rooms and the old couple turn into spirits and start tormenting their
Shaman guests.
At Osorezan, Manta works to gather everything on Anna’s list as she sets off on her journey to
perform the ritual.
Before they leave, the old couple asks if the Shamans will destroy the monsters that live in the
mountain cave by their village. Sharon and co. appear and Yoh agrees to go. In the cave, Ren and Horo Horo reveal to Sharon’s
group that the couple aren’t human and there probably will be no reward. The two were fairies and were playing a practical
joke. Lyserg can’t understand why they came here if they knew about it. Yoh replies that it looked like fun, and besides,
the couple looked lonely. The monsters appear, and the Shamans have a good time fighting the mud flinging monsters. Even Lyserg
joins in and has a good time.
Suddenly, Hao shows up and destroys the fairies. He taunts Yoh as he reprimands Yoh for
wasting time. He then speaks to Mikihisa through the trees, telling him to hurry up and give Yoh THAT so he’s at least
as strong as he was 1000 years ago…
Meanwhile, Anna calls forth a flaming ball which contains prayer beads…
1080.
The fairies tell Yoh that Hao uses the Spirit of Fire, which is incredibly powerful because it was made from
the Great Spirits. As Yoh walks away, the fairies talk amongst themselves. Yoh is their only hope of defeating Hao.
EPISODE THIRTY TWO: HORO HORO'S TASTE OF A BITTER FRIEND
Ryu decides to give Oversoul Big Thumb another try, but this time, Billy’s
car is in need of repair. Ryu is not taking Billy abandoning them well. Everyone is tired and hungry, so Horo Horo creates
ice for them. He then goes off to find food. He spots a dear and tries to attack, but a Shaman named Allen with a huge bear
Oversoul named Doddo tells him not to disturb nature. This place is sacred, where people are forbidden to touch nature. He
protects it. Allen gives Horo Horo a corn ball he made himself and agrees to take him to town.
Anna has a huge pile
of gifts for Yohmei. She then asks what she needs to do. First is the purification ceremony. Anna must sit in the freezing
water of the waterfall.
On their way to town, Allen sees construction workers clearing away the Sacred grounds and
gets pissed that they are destroying nature. He flips out and Oversouls, calling Big Bear to attack the machines. Horo Horo
stops the Bear. No, he doesn’t like to see Nature being destroyed, but he also doesn’t like to see humans getting
hurt. Allen confesses that he tried to scare them away, but now no one is afraid of spirits. That’s why he uses violence.
The two go at it as Horo Horo tries to convince Allen that his way isn’t right. In the process, two trucks are pushed
over the edge of a cliff and set a good portion of the forest on fire. The only way to stop it is to destroy another part
of the forest to contain the fire. Allen can’t do it, so Horo Horo volunteers with the Ikupasui that Pirika gave him.
He calls Kororo into it and performs Neiki Fuike Kiroro to send an avalanche over the flames.
Horo Horo brings back
some of the meat from the animals that died. After they’re finished eating, Horo Horo tells them that they’ve
just eaten a gift from Mother Nature. Now it’s their turn to return the favor.
Meanwhile, Anna finishes her purification
ritual. Yohmei tells her that it has started.
Yoh and co. till the earth and replant trees to repay Mother Nature.
EPISODE THIRTY THREE: MYSTERIOUS ASAKURA
Hao and his group sit by a fire. Ashil, the boy who is looking to kill
Yoh, complains that he is bored. Shouldn’t they wait until they reach Patch Village before they relax? Hao isn’t
ready to hurry. Ashil seems jealous that Hao is paying so much attention to Yoh over him. He believes that he is the stronger
of the two. Hao smiles and asks for a favor. The reason Yoh is so relaxed is because he is among friends. If Ashil was to
kill a few of them, he’d be a bit more worried. Ashil is up to the challenge and ready to kill Yoh if necessary. Rakist,
Hao’s strange priest friend, requires that his large, monster creature go with him. At first Ashil refuses, but Hao
asks that he go along and Ashil willingly accepts. Rakist asks Ashil to call Yoh “Yoh-sama”. He confides to Hao
that he doesn’t think Ashil understands his master's plan.
Anna travels to the northeastern part of the Asakura
territory where the demon’s gate of Ushitora (Cow Tiger) is found. The gate is a place where ghosts and spirits enter
and return, a place that would be ideal to seal something away with a spell. At the gate, Yohmei explains the true purpose
of the Asakura family throughout the last thousand years of their history. Behind the doors lies the legend of Superior Onmyouji,
Hao Asakura. (Onmyouji is a common name for Buddhist monks responsible for exorcising evil spirits and for fortune telling).
Hao Asakura is an enemy that the Asakura family terminated with all their powers a long time ago. He’s not dead.
As
Ren and Horo Horo bicker about a bus stop in the middle of nowhere, Ashil shows up to cause Yoh problems. As Ashil attacks
Yoh’s friends, the monster Rakist sent sets up a protection ring so that no harm will come upon Yoh. They wonder why
Yoh is getting the special treatment until Ashil reveals that Yoh is a descendant of Hao.
Back at the gate, Yohmeil
explains that the star placed there isn’t just any Onmyou symbol. When the five points of the star are connected, they
indicate five karma, which possess the knowledge of the workings of Nature and the universe. In other words, those who master
the pentacle have control over Nature itself. Such a person can control demons. Only a god should obtain this power, but Hao
was the shaman to obtain this. The Asakura family prospered greatly with Hao’s new found power, but suddenly, Hao announced
that he wanted to eliminate humankind and create a world of Shamans. The Asakura family did all they could to eliminate Hao,
but they were too late, for Hao had already mastered the pentacle enough to control his own life. Hao did die a thousand years
ago, but through his ambition to become the Shaman King, he transmigrated his soul into “Hao” to participate in
the Shaman Fight. Manta overhears the conversation and confesses that he has heard of Hao. They wonder why - possibly to recruit
Yoh to that side? Yohmei explains that Yoh’s true purpose is to erase Hao. To help, Anna must send THAT - a book Hao
used that lists everything about Onmyoudoum, “Chou Senji Ryakketsu” - to Yoh. It’s been sealed away in the
gate for a long time.
Back to the Shaman battle with Ashil, which isn’t going as well as they’d like. Yoh
tries to break the protection circle to escape, but cannot. Lyserg is having doubts that Yoh is Hao’s descendent. It
doesn’t matter to Ren. In the meantime, Yoh breaks the protection “Steel Curtain” and attacks Ashil. Soon,
everyone is attacking Ashil. However, his Oversoul is in the ground, so as long as the ground is there, he can still Oversoul.
As Ashil charges to attack, a beam of light kills him and a white angel appears. Beside the angel, a group of men appear and
declare that evil will be destroyed by the light of justice. They are the X-Laws, the messengers of justice who will terminate
the evil Hao. They offer their friendship to Yoh. Yoh asks whether they killed Ashil. They reply that they did not kill him,
they executed him. They pass judgment upon Hao and his followers. By fighting with them, his sins will be forgiven. It doesn’t
matter to them that Yoh is Hao’s descendent.
Yoh got quite mad and rejected their offer. And this bespectacled guy seemed to take his
rejection quite simply and the X-Laws left with a dramatic exit.
After this, the scene switches to a bus where the five boys are, traveling to the next town.
Horo Horo got quite edgy about that day's happenings and even Ren, Ryu and Yoh are still thinking about the X-Laws and Hao.
But Lyserg seems to experience an interest in joining the X-Laws.
EPISODE THIRTY FOUR: AMERICAN HOT SPRINGS
Yohmei shows Anna Chou Senji Ryakettsu, the magical tome containing
the complete record of all the Onmyou teachings which Hao learned to gain his powers. If Yoh was to read it, he would at least
become as strong as Hao was a thousand years ago. He then asks Anna to send it Yoh. Of course, there is a small problem with
this… if this is a record of everything relating to Hao, that would mean that his shikigamis (spirit familiars of
Onmyou masters) are also sealed in there. Tamao breaks the seal by accident and two shikigamis, Zenki and Kouki, are
released from the book. They look kind of like whales with huge teath. Zenki is maroon with one eye centered in a star on
his face and his two fangs point upwards. Kouki is teal, with fangs pointing downward and five eyes at the points of the star
on his face. Tamao and Manta cringe with fear.
Yohmei sends his little spirits after Zenki, but can’t break the
shield Zenki set up. While he fights, Anna reads from Hao’s manual. She then jumps in the air and flings her prayer
beads at them, captures them, and utters Gouma Choubuku (Demon Confinement). The monsters disappear into a talisman
on the floor.
Hao gets the vibe back in America that his shikigamis were defeated.
He’s kind of impressed that there’s someone in the Asakura family with that kind of power.
Meanwhile, the
Shamans are lazily riding along on a farmer’s truck filled with hay, gathering their thoughts and thinking back to the
X-Laws. Sharon and the girls are lost and bickering as usual. Sharon gets out of the SUV to examine if they can cross the
bridge in front of them and a bad ass chic on a motorcycle named Jilda plows into her and steals her Enra Enra (her spirit).
Turns out that the two have known each other a long time and have been rivals since birth, and she isn’t going to lose
to Sharon during the Shaman Fight. To rub it in, she calls Enra Enra to attack Sharon. After a threat of being fried, Enra
Enra complies and attacks. Millie gets pissed and fights back, so Jilda calls forth her own spirit, Kanae, which takes out
the tires of the SUV.
Meanwhile, Yoh and the boys notice a geyser ahead and Yoh is ready to relax in the hot springs
that must be nearby. They enter a Japan-like town with steamed buns and hot springs and everything. Ren is insulted that America
has so deliberately made fun of their country, but Yoh isn’t ready to worry about the details. He is just ready to relax.
During the bath, they finally discuss the X-Laws and Yoh’s relation to Hao. Yoh is calm about the inquiry, and reassures
Lyserg in particular that if Hao gets in his way, he’ll face him. He’s not one to worry about things, though.
Horo Horo and Ryu take each other on in a game of ping pong while Yoh relaxes in a vibrating chair. Only Lyserg isn’t
carefree and enjoying himself. Later, he joins Ryu in the hot springs and asks if he’ll come to the temple on the other
side of the forest with him. Ryu looks down to see a girl’s reflection and shadows watching nearby. He agrees but tells
him there’s no rush and starts counting down from 100. The heat is too much for Jilda and she changes back to her form
and wonders off. On to the next victim… Yoh.
Anna appears by Yoh’s window. She asks him to come to her.
He falls back asleep. She gets pissed and storms in declaring that she’s his fiancée - he should embrace her or chase
her if she runs away. He tells her he’s too scared to do those things. Amidamaru then threatens her with a sword and
demands that she show her true form because there is no way the real Anna could possibly be there. Yoh tells him to let her
go and then starts crying - he has finally beat Anna for the first time - ever! Amidamaru starts crying as well.
Jilda
then tries to break into Horo Horo’s room, but Kororo freezes her before she can enter. As she and her spirit recover,
Ren sneaks up from behind and threatens them. They run off. Finally, they try one more time with Lyserg posing as one of the
X-Laws. The spirit runs off and Lyserg follows him to the temple. Morphin tries to warn him, but Jilda pulls out her gun and
threatens him. Suddenly Sharon appears and saves Lyserg.
EPISODE THIRTY FIVE: VAMPIRE LEGEND
A family runs away from a blonde haired man and his army ready to kill
them. The blonde haired man accuses the family of being vampires and commands his guards to kill them. The guards slice through
the father, Boris, as his little girl watches with horror. Her mother pushes her off a cliff into the river below to save
her.
Yoh and the boys have been staying at a deserted town. Ryu and Tokageroh head to the theater to watch Dracula
now playing. It scares the hell out of Tokageroh, who flies out of the theater. Suddenly, a real vampire appears behind Ryu
and asks him if he wants to know what a real vampire is like. Ryu picks up a stick and smacks the vampire in the head. He
laughs and the vampire on screen and the one in the theater simultaneously disappear.
Sharon and the girls have joined
up with the X-Laws since they have no intention of becoming Shaman King. Their mission is to help all the people who Hao has
targeted. And so the X-Laws have decided to blockade the town Yoh is staying in. After all, they refused to join them once
before, they have no other choice now. Millie isn’t ready to watch as her precious Lyserg gets hurt in the process and
runs through the barrier to find him.
Amidamaru and Bason track down Tokageroh as Ryu is still recovering from his
bite wound. Ren isn’t convinced it was a vampire… more like a Shaman Hao sent after them. Millie and Lilly enter
and inform the boys that there is no way a vampire would target Ryu. Vampires only target beautiful girls like herself - or
maybe Lyserg. As she speaks, Ryu stands up. He has red eyes, looks possessed, and attacks tries to attack the girls. Horo
Horo freezes him before he gets to them, just enough to contain him. Lyserg then tells them that in his country, an author
named Bram Stoker wrote a book called “Dracula.” Whoever’s blood Dracula sucks will become a vampire. The
priest of the church explains that Bram Stoker was modeled after a real person, Vlad Tepesch, a feudal lord in a small Eastern
European country during the 15th Century. To protect his country, he skewed his enemies and displayed them outside for his
enemies to see. After his death, the people who feared him dug up his grave to make sure he was dead, but the coffin was empty… Yohmei
again asks Anna to take the book to Yoh. She refuses. Yohmei decides that Manta will be the one to pay for the trip and she
quickly agrees to go.
Ren asks Yoh if he thinks the X-Laws may be able to help them get Ryu back. Yoh thinks that even
though Hao isn’t doing the right thing, he doesn’t think that the X-Laws are either. Lyserg still ponders joining
the X-Laws and runs out to meet them. He asks why they are there. The leader responds that Yoh and co. are being targeted
by Hao, and they couldn’t just leave them. They came because they were worried. Lyserg asks how they can defeat the
vampire in the town. He tells him that in order to do so, he must become stronger. He cannot hold back, but must use his entire
power, even if that means the lives of his friends or his own.
Back in the church, Ryu bites Horo Horo. Evil Horo
Horoattacks the girls, but Lyserg captures him. He slowly tightens his grasp and starts his Big Ben attack. Yoh runs over
to stop him as Ryu recaptures Horo Horo. Yoh is really mad now. He asks if Lyserg just tried to kill Horo Horo. Lyserg admits
he did because if they become vampires, they will not be able to defeat Hao. That is their priority. Infuriated, Yoh reminds
him that saving Horo Horo is their priority. The boys then go after the head vampire, who turns out to be the priest who has
just led the girls to safety… um, inside his Oversoul. He calls to Boris, who promptly drives his sword through the
man and tells him he doesn’t need him anymore. Yoh, Ren, and Lyserg show up, and Lyserg is slightly disturbed that Boris
could kill his own man like nothing. Boris explains that Damayaji was a mere human whom he despised. He also exists for Hao.
Ren
holds up garlic and asks if vampires dislike them. Boris all but laughs at him as he comes close and asks who would be afraid
of garlic and a cross. Lyserg attacks, but Boris dodges and ends up behind him. He bends down and to the horror of everyone,
bites Lyserg.
EPISODE THIRTY SIX: ANGEL'S PISTOL
Anna calls for Manta to come or they will leave without him. Apparently,
Manta asked his friend Tamurazaki to take them to America.
Back in Boris’s lair, Yoh is extremely perturbed
that Lyserg was just bitten and attacks with Amidaryu Gokoujin. They are amazed that it is not an Oversoul, but the vengeance
of the Tepesch family. Millie then takes a shot at Millie, who if knocked down and finds herself in a compromised situation
with several spikes pointing down at her. Ryu saves her and then performs Ame no Murakumo within Yamata no Orochi! He sends
his dragon spirits after the vamp and Horo Horo chips in with Neiki Fuiki Kiroro to send a double blast at the vampire.
Boris
returns from the blast as everyone, particularly Millie and Ryu, are mourning over Lyserg. Ryu cannot fathom anyone hurting
his boy, while Millie isn’t ready to give Lyserg over to Ryu that easily (very weird…). Anyway, so Boris tells
them that as long as he remains unharmed, Lyserg will serve as his slave. Ryu declares that today will mark the return of
Ryu of the Wooden Sword, and goes after the vamp.
Goldva and priests discuss Hao’s tactics for eliminating his
competition in the Shaman Fight. The priests want to step in, but Goldva tells them to stay back and let things play out.
The last one standing will be Shaman King. Their only other option is to side with the X-Laws.
Meanwhile, the X-Laws
have decided to go in after Boris. Millie and Ellie guard the door so the X-Laws can’t go in to kill Lyserg. Sharon
and the other two girls head over to Millie’s side and they face the X-Laws.
Ren is absolutely convinced that
Boris is a shaman, not a vampire. He finds it a bit strange that even though Ryu and Horo Horo were bit, they’re fine
now. Boris can only control one person at a time. Ren, of course, is correct, and the spirit controlling Lyserg, who has just
captured Yoh, appears and introduces himself. He is Buramura, a vampire hunter caught by Boris. His Oversoul is a bunch of
vampire bats and they’ve just trapped Horo Horo, Ryu, and Ren as Lyserg stands ready to bit Yoh. Lyserg musters up the
strength to talk and he begs Yoh to kill him. Then everyone will be set free. Yoh refuses. He then pushes Lyserg’s fangs
into his own neck.
Boris sends his vampire bat spike Oversoul crashing down on Horo Horo and co. but Tokageroh catches
them while Horo Horo freezes them to break them. Annoyed, Boris commands Buramura as Yoh to attack. Yoh gets up and is still
himself. He and Amidamaru have been in Hyoi Gattai for a while, so when Buramura entered him, Amidamaru caught him. Boris
is completely helpless now, so Ren calls Bason to perform Super Golden Chuuka Zanmai to take Boris out. As they are about
to finish him, Buramura steps in to protect his fallen master. They Shamans ask what’s up with that since he’s
free now. He explains that back in the day, they thought Vlad was a vampire so he and his posse tracked a family of Vlad’s
clan down looking for hero status. When they killed the father of the family, he didn’t turn to dust and they realized
they just murdered a family of humans. Buramura searched for the child of the family he had just murdered, but when he found
him, the child was with Hao. He let the child kill him to gladly become his spirit. Boris walks out of the room.
Suddenly,
the X-Laws appear and hold Boris hostage. They claim that in the name of the Holy Girl Jeanne, evil will be punished and get
ready to shoot Boris. Yoh steps in to save him, ready to stop them from killing any more people. The X-Laws can’t understand
why Yoh is doing what he’s doing. The X-Laws spit out the same jargon Ren’s father was talking about where in
this culture, the one who defeats evil is considered to represent justice. If you can’t distinguish between good and
evil, then you don’t deserve to become the Shaman King. Boris starts to walk away, but the X-Laws prepare to attack.
Yoh accuses them of behaving like Hao, killing those who get in their way. Together, they perform Archangel’s Fire and
send Michael after Yoh. Boris steps in front of the sword to save Yoh.
The X-Laws give them one last chance to join
them. Lyserg is the only one to go. On their way out, they come across the girls lying hurt in front of the door. Millie grabs
onto Lyserg’s ankle. Ryu asks how he can join a group that will attack small girls. He replies that they are weak, like
himself. He must join those that are powerful to defeat Hao.
EPISODE THIRTY SEVEN: JOKING KING
Now that Lyserg is gone, the Shamans wonder who they will find Patch
Village now. Yoh suggests they explore the town of Yonta-Fe. While there, a boy jumps out at them and asks if they will always
be so friendly towards each other. They walk right past him, which upsets the boy greatly. Ren threatens the boy and demands
that if he has something to say to them, that he better make it quick. The boy tells them that he is looking for companions.
The boy recommends that they find themselves a bigger group if they want to survive. The biggest are with Hao or the X-Laws.
He then introduces himself as Chocolove and in his own way asks to join up with them. The boy is big on practical jokes and
picks Ren as his target… not wise. He then introduces his spirit Jaguar Mic.
After some negotiating and attempts
to prove himself, we learn of his past. Chocolove’s master believed that only laughter will save everything. Force accomplishes
nothing. Yoh asks why he joined the Shaman Fight? He answers because he wants to become the world’s greatest comedian
and spread laughter throughout the world. Suddenly Zen-ryu show up and attack, but they are no match for Ren until they bring
out their new Oversoul, Saboten, which is an area attack that succeeds in pissing Ren off to the point where he’s about
to take them out. Chocolove Oversouls and steps in. His master gave him the Black Jaguar which enhances his senses. He notices
something between Zen-ryu and attacks the talisman. Another one of Hao’s men appears - Peyote. Peyote was using Zen-ryu’s
bodies as an Oversoul. They aren’t conscious of their actions. Peyote introduces the group to his spirits, Carlos and
Joe, both are famous Mexican mariachi (street musicians). They attack Chocolove, who is able to outmaneuver the attack and
makes his way to Peyote. Unfortunately, Peyote has another spirit in his pocket, Antonio, who was their leader. His other
spirits include Jose, Pancho, Savada, and Miguel. They are now Caravella (skeleton) dolls, or in other words, Peyote is a
shaman who uses bones as a medium for his Oversoul.
Yoh is not taking all this lightly, especially with Peyote’s
complete disrespect of Zen and Ryu’s lives. Chocolove is in the dead middle of the firepower, but he refuses to fight
back. He Oversouls with all his furyoku and does Ayers Rock (the largest rock in the world, located in Australia aka ‘Earth’s
Navel.’) Chocolove grows really big and creates a kangaroo. Peyote’s spirits start laughing hysterically at Chocolove’s
wind of laughter which releases spirits haunted by evil. Ryu and Horo Horo then take out Peyote.
Later, Yoh invites
Chocolove to join the group. Meanwhile, Lyserg listens to the X-Laws jargon. He wants Lyserg to meet their leader.
Afterwards,
Chocolove tries to make everyone laugh with his stupid jokes. Before Horo Horo and Ryu kill him, though, he informs them that
a person in this town named Lilirara knows where Patch Village is located.
At the airport, Faust grabs Manta. He drinks
tea with Anna, all the while holding a terrified Manta on his lap. Turns out that he cannot find any information on Patch
Village, which means that he will never see Eliza again. Anna asks if he would like to be reunited with her… she can
do it if he fights for Yoh.
EPISODE THIRTY EIGHT: LEGEND OF SEMINOA
Manta can’t understand how Anna could possibly invite Faust to
Yoh’s side. She explains that she understands why Manta’s afraid of him, but Faust is strong because of his pure
heart - it creates an unwavering mental fortitude. Anna will help him be reunited with his love so he will no longer fight
to be Shaman King. Manta looks at her with new admiration, but soon the old Anna is back. She’s really luring him to
work as a doctor at the Onsen Resort, which she one day plans to own. It will be the best therapeutic hot spring resort. Jun
shows up with Pailong and asks if they know how Ren is. Anna asks Tamao if she has been able to track the boys down yet and
she replies that she’s traced them to a town called Yonta-Fe.
Chocolove believes that they should be looking
for Seminoa. Warriors from the town participated in the last Shaman Fight. Suddenly the girls run past screaming. It appears
that they were just to see Lilirara because her ancestors were the Seminoans. They enter and Lilirara immediately tells them
to go back to their homelands. Lilirara is a medicine woman who maintains Seminoan folklore. The woman warns of trying to
continue to Patch Village in hopes that what happened 500 years ago won’t happen again. Yoh asks what happened and the
woman tells her story, um has them experience the story.
Yoh is ready to accept and Ren is quick to follow. She passes
the memories of the Seminoan warriors to the boys through High Mega Vision Memorial. They are transported into the minds of
the warriors walking to their doom in the Rocky Mountains 500 years ago. Patch had told them of the Great Spirit and of the
Shaman Fight tradition. The Seminoans also participated, but soon they found out about Hao’s dream of a Shaman Kingdom.
A man who looks like Silva explained that humans will eventually destroy the world. To prevent this, they must kill them off
and create a new world of Shamans. The true purpose of the Shaman Fight is to create a new world. Together they can destroy
humankind. The Seminoans refuse the offer and attack, but they are no match for the Patch.
That was how the memories
of the Seminoans came to an end. However, the Patch was thwarted before he could instigate a Shaman Kingdom. He left a message
before he died. “I am the Future King. I will revive after the 180000th moon comes up to the sky.” The shamans
recognize the Patch man as Hao, but don’t understand how he could have been in adult form. They tell Lilirara that the
demon she talks of has already arisen. They ask to repeat the scene to find more info to help them. Yoh thinks they were heading
west to the mountain valley. Lilirara can’t understand why they keep putting themselves though the pain of reliving
the Seminoans’ death time and time again. Yoh thinks there is something more to it. The spirits are bearing with them
and reliving their own deaths for a particular reason. Yoh asks them why. They want to prove their strength and start fighting
the boys. The spirits (Chelga, Nitsuba, Jophia, Ian, Doriza) are trying to pass on the memories of their past. They then ascend
to the heavens freeing Lilirara of the past. They tell the boys to go to the valley of the red river, through the black dust,
head to the blue cavern, and ahead, Patch will be waiting.
EPISODE THIRTY NINE: THE FLOWER TEAM
“In the valley of the red river, go though the black dustcloud,
and head toward the blue cave. Beyond that is Patch.”
Yoh and gang are still heading towards Patch Village seeking
out the canyon called Red River. On their way, Lily Five catch up with them. Sharon asks if they want a ride, but the boys
sense a ploy to get them to reveal Patch Village’s location. Yoh is ready to tell them, to the amazement of the rest
of the boys, who think he’s such a softie. Unfortunately, once Yoh reveals the path, Sharon hops back in her SUV and
the girls speed away.
Hao is still plotting to make Yoh serious about the fight. He sends a couple of girls after the
boys. He then waits for Anna’s group to arrive.
As Anna and company walk up the mountain towards Yoh, they are
startled to find Hao waiting for them. Anna questions his motives. She can’t imagine why he cares if the Chou Senji
Ryakettsu (aka Super Notes on Shamanic Powers) gets to Yoh. He counters her, requesting that she get the book to Yoh faster.
Yoh’s rather weak right now. At this point, he doesn’t stand a chance, but if he reads the book, he will reach
a new level and possibly become an ally of Hao. Anna thinks this is ridiculous and as taunts her, she tries to slap him. To
the amazement of Manta and Tamao, who have never seen anyone stand up to Anna, he catches her hand in mid slap. He looks at
her, impressed that she is so worthy to be the bride of the Shaman King, and as he lets his guard down, Anna comes back with
her legendary Left slap, making contact this time. Hao laughs and again requests that Anna get the book to Yoh as soon as
possible.
Hao’s girls catch up to the boys and begin their taunts. They can’t imagine why Hao-sama is so
worried about Yoh, who only can use an Oversoul. They tell him that he’s already maxed out what he can do with a human
spirit. Yoh defends Amidamaru’s strength, but the girls don’t care. The blue haired girl calls forth Ashcroft
to attack Yoh. They want him to understand that he’s weak. Ryu attacks the mech knight spirit and sends pieces flying,
but the blue haired girl snaps her fingers and her Shaman is quickly back in one piece. Both Horo Horo and Ren begin attacks,
but the girls are pretty strong and send them flying back.
Sharon is pleased with herself that she got the information
from Yoh so quickly. Pailong jumps in front of the car, and Anna steps forth declaring that this will do.
Again the
girls attack - the blue haired girl with Ashcroft, the little orange haired girl named Mari with Oversoul Kiisagi Jakken,
and the blonde chic with issues named Machi with Oversoul Hirii Jakken. Both Mari and Machi’s spirits look like demented
puppets about the size of Manta. Kiisagi Jakken looks like a skeleton mech with a pumpkin head and two blades as hands, and
Hirii Jakken is a freaky puppet that looks like a deranged Manta with a gun. Yoh and Ryu step up to defend, while Chocolove
attacks Ashcroft as Kiisagi Jakken shoots at him with tracking bullets. Horo Horo freezes the bullets just in time as Ren
has Bason attempt a failed attack on Mari.
Meanwhile, Sharon cannot understand how Anna can sit in the car all high
and mighty and demand that they go faster.
Machi complains that she’s bored. The boys aren’t serious about
fighting. She wants to take it up a notch and suggests that they try to kill them. The blue haired chic commands Ashcroft
to perform Aizun Tobruuto, which sends a wind gust at Ryu and Tokagero. Mari does Trick or Treat to have her Shaman dive though
Bason and hit Ren. Machi does Magnum Craft and Horo Horo’s ice shield isn’t enough to stop the bullets. Chocolove
also meets his match and soon only Yoh is left standing.
Silva pleads with Goldoba-sama to step in. Hao is going too
far and will most definitely look to repeat what happened 500 years ago. Goldoba-sama warns him not to interfere. They will
not forgive any interference with the will of the Great Spirits. Silva walks away. He asks if they aren’t losing their
own souls by revering the Great Spirits. Whatever happens, they say it is the will of the Great Spirits, but that is just
running away. Silva can’t understand how letting this happen again in the name of the Shaman Fight is ok.
Yoh
is tired, but still standing, and pretty mad that all his friends are hurt pretty badly. He and Amidamaru perform Senka Buttagiri
to hit the girls, but Ashcroft defends, and the three girls attack at once. Yoh won’t go down and as Ashcroft attacks,
Anna arrives with Hao’s chained shikigamis, Zenki and Kouki. She steps in and challenges the girls, who decide retreating
is better than fighting Zenki and Kouki.
Lily Five take off and we get a glimpse of Faust still all happy with his
beloved.
Lyserg receives his new X-Law uniform as the cult leader tells him that his parents must be proud of him.
